David Carrico

1636: The Devil’s Opera and The Span of Empire are two of David Carrico’s most well-known novels, both of which were written in collaboration with Eric Flint. His writing is highly regarded, with his work falling under the speculative fiction genre and offering unique perspectives on how life could have been different if history had taken a different course. Carrico’s novels are published by Baen Books, and he has also contributed to The Grantville Gazette e-magazine, Jim Baen’s Universe e-magazine, and Baen.com’s monthly free story offerings.

Carrico’s love for science fiction began in his childhood, when he discovered the books of Andre Norton in the 6th grade. This early exposure to the genre sparked a lifelong passion for reading and writing SF. He began his writing career in 2004, and since then, he has expanded his repertoire to include space opera, alternate history, fantasy, and urban fantasy. In addition to his work with Eric Flint, Carrico’s books are also published by Eric Flint’s Ring of Fire Press.

Carrico’s most recent book, 1636: Flight of the Nightingale, was released in November 2019. Looking ahead to 2022, Baen Books and Eric Flint’s Ring of Fire Press will be releasing new books by Carrico. Currently, he is working on a new space opera novel, which he is co-writing with Eric Flint, and is set to be published by Baen Books. With his unique storytelling abilities and his passion for the genre, Carrico’s work continues to captivate and engage readers.
