David Drake

David Drake is an acclaimed American author, best known for his work in the science fiction and fantasy genres. He graduated with honors from the University of Iowa and began attending Duke University School of Law before being drafted into the U.S. Army. Drake served in Vietnam and Cambodia, which would later provide inspiration for his military-themed writing. After his time in the Army, he returned to his legal studies, but found solace in writing as a way to process his experiences during the war.

Drake has established himself as one of the major bestsellers in the American Military Science Fiction and Fantasy genres. Since 1979, he has authored and co-authored over a hundred books, and has published numerous anthologies and short stories. His collaborations with notable writers such as Eric Flint, Karl Edward Wagner, and S.M. Stirling have contributed to his successful career.

In addition to his military-themed works, Drake is also known for his Hammer's Slammers, Lord of the Isles, and Lt. Leary series, as well as creating the Raj Whitehall and Belisarius series. His writing is informed by his background in history and Latin, and he is known for his realistic and action-packed storytelling.
