David Handler

David Handler is an American author, best known for his crime fiction novels. He was born and raised in Los Angeles, and began his career as a journalist in New York. Handler's career as an author took off with his Danny Levine series, which revolves around his experiences growing up in Los Angeles. He has also written two highly acclaimed novels about his childhood in the city, Kiddo and Boss.

Handler's other notable works include the Hoagy and Lulu mysteries, as well as the Mitch and Desiree mysteries. He has won the Edgar Award and American Mystery Award, and has received nominations for the Dilys Award and the Derringer Award. Handler's writing is not limited to novels, he has also written short stories and was part of the writing team that created the Emmy Award-winning sitcom Kate and Allie. He has also written for TV and film, and co-authored the international bestseller Gideon under the name Russell Andrews.

In addition to his crime fiction, Handler has also written a series of retro-cozy murder mysteries set in a quaint, ultra-WASPY little historic New England village, which he calls Dorset. These books, featuring the deliciously mismatched heroes Mitch Berger and Desiree Mitry, offer a unique blend of old-school village murder mystery and contemporary edge. Handler currently resides in a 230-year-old carriage house in Old Lyme, Connecticut, where he continues to write and create engaging stories for his readers.
