David Klass is an American novelist and screenwriter known for his young adult fiction and Hollywood screenplays. He has authored numerous novels, including the widely acclaimed "You Don't Know Me," "Dark Angel," and the "Firestorm" series, part of "The Caretaker Trilogy". His screenwriting credits include major action films such as "Kiss the Girls," "Walking Tall," and "Desperate Measures," featuring prominent actors like Morgan Freeman and The Rock.
Born into a literary family, Klass initially gravitated toward sports rather than books but developed a passion for adventure stories by authors such as Jack London and Alexandre Dumas. His early writing talent emerged in high school when he won a story contest in "Seventeen" magazine with his debut piece, "Ringtoss." After studying at Yale University, where he earned the Veech Award for Best Imaginative Writing, he taught English in Japan, an experience that inspired his first novel, "The Atami Dragons." Klass currently resides in New York with his family, continuing to write across both literature and film.
