David Wilson, author of the "Lone Star Odyssey" series, grew up in the Ozarks where he developed a love for the outdoors. He spent much of his time with his grandfather, learning valuable skills such as fishing, hunting, and trapping. Wilson's grandfather taught him many old-fashioned techniques, including how to hold a star drill, hack a railroad tie, and make handmade shake shingles. These early experiences shaped Wilson's connection to nature and self-reliance, which are reflected in his writing.
At the age of 17, Wilson joined the Marine Corps as a 0341 (Mortarman) and enjoyed his time in the grunts. However, he later switched over to Counterintelligence after becoming a Sergeant. Wilson remained in the USMC for over 20 years, retiring in 1998 with the rank of CWO-2 (Chief Warrant Officer 2). His military background has significantly influenced his writing, particularly in the "Lone Star Odyssey" series, which features military themes and characters.
After retiring from the Marine Corps, Wilson worked for several government agencies and as a contractor in Iraq and Afghanistan. He continues to work as a contractor, dedicating his spare time to writing. Wilson's first book, "Lone Star Odyssey-First Steps," was published in May 2019, followed by "Obstacles" in December 2019. The third book in the series, "Choices," was released in 2022, and the fourth book, "Decisions," was published in August 2023. The fifth book in the series is expected to be released in early spring 2024.
Wilson currently resides in Texas with his wife and children, where they share their time with horses and dogs and make repairs around their ranch. His experiences growing up in the Ozarks, serving in the military, and working as a contractor have all contributed to Wilson's unique perspective and storytelling abilities. His "Lone Star Odyssey" series offers readers a thrilling and authentic journey through military and survival adventures, reflecting Wilson's diverse background and interests.
