DC Palter

DC Palter is an accomplished author, entrepreneur, and venture investor with a diverse career spanning technology, language, and literature. His debut novel, "To Kill a Unicorn," was a 2023 American Fiction Awards finalist for Best Mystery Novel and Best Debut Novel. He also authored "Colloquial Kansai Japanese," a guidebook to the Osaka-Kyoto dialect published by Tuttle, and serves as editor-in-chief of Japonica, a daily journal of Japanese culture. Palter made history as the first-ever winner of the Little Tokyo Fiction Contest for short stories written in both Japanese and English.

With a background in engineering, marketing, and law, Palter brings a multidisciplinary approach to his writing. His decades of experience leading tech startups inform his fiction, while his deep connection to Japan - where he became the first non-native certified Japanese language instructor by the Japan Society - shapes his cultural and linguistic works. He holds an MFA in creative writing, further blending technical expertise with literary craftsmanship.

Palter divides his time between Kobe, Japan, and Los Angeles' Silicon Beach, where he lives with his wife, a prominent ikebana artist. His unique perspective, bridging Silicon Valley innovation and Japanese tradition, continues to influence his writing across genres.
