Dean Goodman

Dean Goodman is a writer and former journalist specializing in rock music biographies and memoirs. He gained recognition for his debut book, "Strange Days: The Adventures of a Grumpy Rock 'n' Roll Journalist in Los Angeles," a candid collection of interviews and encounters with legendary musicians such as David Bowie, the Doors, and Johnny Cash. The book was nominated in the nonfiction category at the Los Angeles Press Club's National Arts & Entertainment Awards. Goodman later collaborated with Lynyrd Skynyrd drummer Artimus Pyle on the memoir "Street Survivor: Keeping the Beat in Lynyrd Skynyrd," providing an insider's perspective on the iconic Southern rock band.

Goodman's writing blends firsthand musical insights with a sardonic, conversational tone honed through three decades of journalism. Beyond contemporary rock, he also rediscovered and republished Susan McKearney's 1930s colonial memoir, "Just Me: The Life Story of a Nobody," expanding his literary scope. An avid traveler and Rolling Stones enthusiast, Goodman has attended hundreds of their concerts worldwide while maintaining a focus on documenting rock history through biographical works.
