Deanna Raybourn is a successful American author, best known for her historical mystery novels, particularly the Lady Julia Grey series. She was born in Texas and comes from a long line of Texan ancestors, with her family having been in the state for six generations. After completing her education, Raybourn pursued a career in teaching before eventually transitioning to become a novelist. She currently resides in Virginia with her husband and daughter.
Raybourn has a strong focus on the Victorian era in her writing, with her most popular series, the Lady Julia Grey novels, set in this time period. Her works have been well-received and she has been the recipient of several awards, including the Agatha Award. In addition to the Lady Julia Grey series, Raybourn has also launched a new Victorian mystery series featuring intrepid butterfly-hunter and amateur sleuth, Veronica Speedwell. The first book in this series, A CURIOUS BEGINNING, was released in 2015 and has been followed by several more adventures, with the latest, AN IMPOSSIBLE IMPOSTOR, published in early 2022.
In addition to her Victorian-era mysteries, Raybourn is also set to release her first contemporary novel in September 2022. Titled "KILLERS OF A CERTAIN AGE," the novel follows four female assassins on the cusp of retirement.
