Deb Pines

Deb Pines is an American author, best known for her mystery fiction works. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Miami Beach, Florida. After graduating from Brown University, Deb pursued a career in journalism, working as a reporter for various publications including The New York Law Journal, Indianapolis Star, and the New York Post. It was during this time that Deb discovered her passion for mystery writing.

Deb's debut novel, "In the Shadow of Death," was published in 2013 and introduced readers to her series protagonist, Mimi Goldman. The novel, set in the Chautauqua Institution in far Western NY State, was well-received by critics and readers alike, with the New York Post calling it "required reading" and the Post-Journal of Jamestown, NY praising it as "perfect...if you enjoy an old-fashioned whodunit." The success of her debut novel led to the publication of several more Mimi Goldman mysteries, including "Wicked Schemes" (2022), "A Plague Among Us" (2021), "Crooked Paths" (2020), and "Evil for Evil" (2023). Her novels have been described as "page-turners" and "engrossing," with intricate plots and memorable characters.

In addition to her work as a novelist, Deb is also an award-winning headline writer for the New York Post. She has written numerous snarky, pun-filled headlines, including "This Is Your Captain Freaking" and "Flake News." Deb's headlines have gained national attention and have even been featured on "Saturday Night Live."

Deb is a mother and grandmother and enjoys spending her free time cycling, hiking, cooking, and teaching. She is also an avid music lover and enjoys playing Scrabble. Deb is currently working on her next Mimi Goldman novel.
