Debbie Howells is a successful author, best known for her psychological thrillers. She was born in the United Kingdom and had a love for reading from a young age, inspired by Enid Blyton's works. Howells tried her hand at writing over the years but never finished anything until she decided to take her writing career seriously several years ago. At the time, she was running her own floristry and wedding business, so she used Mondays as her dedicated writing day, often spending it in her garden as a form of escape.
Howells' initial submission was rejected, but she received enough positive feedback to keep writing. She penned three commercial women's fiction novels, with her third manuscript attracting interest from six agents. However, it was ultimately rejected, and she decided to self-publish her work. Although she found success in self-publishing, Howells wanted to be traditionally published and knew she needed to change her approach.
The Bones of You (2015) was Howells' first published novel, a psychological thriller that became a Sunday Times bestseller and was selected for the Richard and Judy book club. She has since written several other psychological thrillers, including The Beauty of the End, The Death of Her, Her Sister's Lie, and The Vow, as well as women's fiction novels such as The Life You Left Behind, The Girl I Used To Be, and The Shape Of Your Heart. Boldwood Books has also republished her self-published novels: It All Started With You, The Impossible Search For The Perfect Man, and Time To Take A Chance. Howells' latest novel, The Last Days Of You And Me, is set to be released in January 2024.
Before becoming a full-time writer, Howells worked as cabin crew, a flying instructor, and a wedding florist. She now lives in the countryside with her partner and a rescued cat named Bean, where she spends her time writing and finding inspiration.
