Deborah Goodrich Royce is an accomplished author, born on May 11, 1958, in Detroit, Michigan, and raised in Warren, Michigan. She completed her higher education at Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio, where she graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in modern foreign languages and a minor in dance in 1980.
After graduation, Deborah ventured into acting, appearing in numerous films and on the soap opera "All My Children." She later transitioned to a career in story editing at Miramax Films, where she contributed to the development of movies such as "Emma," "Chicago," and "A Wrinkle in Time." Deborah's passion for storytelling has extended to her thriller novels, which explore puzzles of identity and have earned recognition on bestseller lists, including Publishers Weekly and Good Morning America's top 15. Her books "Reef Road," "Ruby Falls," and "Finding Mrs. Ford" have been praised by Forbes, BookRiot, and other media outlets.
In addition to her writing career, Deborah is a dedicated advocate for preservation and arts initiatives. Together with her husband, Chuck, she has led restoration projects for the Avon Theatre, Ocean House Hotel, Deer Mountain Inn, United Theatre, Savoy Bookstore, and various Main Street ventures in Rhode Island and the Catskills. Deborah's commitment to these causes is reflected in her service on the governing and advisory boards of numerous organizations, including the American Film Institute, Greenwich International Film Festival, the Avon Theatre, New York Botanical Garden, Greenwich Historical Society, the Preservation Society of Newport, the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach, and the PRASAD Project.
Another facet of Deborah's literary contributions is the Ocean House Author Series, a partnership with The Savoy Bookshop & Cafe that brings world-class authors to readers in Watch Hill, Rhode Island. This year, Deborah will host conversations with two dozen writers, including Chris Bohjalian and Katie Couric, following the success of past events featuring authors such as Zibby Owens, Emma Straub, Annabel Monaghan, and Zain Asher.
