Dee MacDonald is a successful author, best known for her cozy mystery, general fiction, and romance novels. She is particularly celebrated for her "Kate Palmer" series. Although MacDonald has achieved acclaim in the literary world, she did not always hold this esteemed position. In fact, she wrote her very first book at the age of seven, which was a love story that she both illustrated and bound herself.
MacDonald's early years were spent in Scotland, where she discovered her talent for writing and won several essay competitions. However, she did not pursue a career in writing right away. Instead, she embarked on a journey to London at the beginning of the swinging sixties. There, she worked as a typist in the West End, became an air stewardess for BA (then BOAC) for eight years, and did market research at Heathrow for both the government statistics and for BA. She also worked as a sales rep, a receptionist at the Thames Television Studios in Teddington, and ran a small B&B in Cornwall for ten years. It was only after her retirement that MacDonald returned to her passion for writing.
Since then, MacDonald has written seven novels, with an eighth set to be published later this year. Her latest novel is "A Body at the Tearooms," which is the third book in the "Kate Palmer" crime series. MacDonald currently resides in Cornwall with her husband and has one son and two grandsons who live nearby. She is an active presence on social media, with a Facebook page (facebook.com/dee.macdonald.18659) and a Twitter account (twitter.com/DMacDonaldAuth).
