De'nesha Diamond is the pseudonym of bestselling African-American novelist Adrianne Janette Byrd. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee, and had the opportunity to travel throughout Europe during her childhood because of her father's military service. It was her elder brother who introduced her to romance books when she was just 13 years old, sparking her interest in writing. In 1994, De'nesha was introduced to Romance Writers of America by a coworker, and by 1996, she had sold her first book, "Defenseless."
De'nesha Diamond gained national recognition as the co-author of the gritty "Desperate Hoodwives" series, which was recommended by Essence magazine and took the street-lit genre by storm. De'nesha's writing is inspired by personal experience and the heartbreaking stories that make up our nightly news. She treads a fine line between glorifying "thug life" and telling it like it is, using her stories to deliver cautionary tales and, ultimately, hope.
De'nesha has written over 50 romance books under her real name and over a dozen under the pen name De'nesha Diamond. In 2006, she co-authored the Bentley Manor trilogy under her pseudonym. While De'nesha's writing is informed by her personal experiences and the world around her, she aims to deliver hope and inspiration to her readers, even if the stories she tells are sometimes difficult or challenging.
