Derek Milman is a successful American author, known for his young adult novels. He was born in New York City and spent his formative years in Westchester County. As a young teenager, Milman's creativity and humor were already evident as he wrote and published a successful underground humor magazine, which gained the attention of the New York Times. This early recognition led to a profile in the newspaper when he was just 14 years old.
Milman's passion for writing and acting led him to pursue a degree in English, Creative Writing, and Theater at Northwestern University. He later attended the Yale School of Drama, where he earned his MFA in acting. As an actor, Milman has an impressive list of television and film credits to his name, including appearances in The Sopranos, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, The Wolf of Wall Street, and Orange is the New Black. He has also performed on stages across the country and worked with two Academy Award-winning film directors.
In addition to his acting career, Milman is an accomplished author with a focus on young adult novels. His debut novel, Scream All Night, was released by HarperCollins/Balzer+Bray, and his second novel, Swipe Right for Murder, was published by Little, Brown/jimmy patterson. Milman's writing journey began when he started off as a playwright and screenwriter, with his first play being staged in New York City shortly after he graduated from college. His third novel, A Darker Mischief, is set to be released by Scholastic in 2024. Milman currently resides in Brooklyn, where he dedicates his time to writing his next book.
