Dhonielle Clayton

Dhonielle Clayton is a highly accomplished author, known for her work on the Tiny Pretty Things series of books and The Belles series. Born in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., Clayton developed a love for reading at a young age, often found beneath her grandmother's dining room table with a pile of books. This passion for reading continued into her adulthood, leading her to earn a BA in English from Wake Forest University and a Master's degree in young adult and children's literature from Hollins University.

In addition to her work as an author, Clayton is also the COO of the non-profit We Need Diverse Books and the co-founder of Cake Literary. She has also worked as an English teacher and a librarian for several years. Clayton's experience in education and her role with We Need Diverse Books highlights her commitment to promoting diversity and representation in literature.

Clayton is also the author of the bestselling series The Marvellers, The Belles series, Shattered Midnight, and the co-author of Blackout, Whiteout, The Rumor Game, and the Tiny Pretty Things duology, which has been adapted as a Netflix original series. She has also established herself as a creative entrepreneur, founding Cake Creative and Electric Postcard Entertainment, IP story companies creating diverse books for all ages.
