Di Morrissey is a renowned Australian author, known for her works in the genre of Australian literature and romance novels. She was born on March 18, 1943, in Wingham, New South Wales, and grew up in the remote surrounds of Pittwater, north of Sydney. As a child, Morrissey considered famous Australian actor Chips Rafferty as her mentor, who helped provide for her and her mother after the death of her father. He even sent them overseas to California to live with family.
Morrissey's professional journey began as a journalist, and she worked on Fleet Street in London and for CBS in Hawaii. She even had a small role in the series Hawaii Five-0, a guest role in season three, episode seven, 1970, starring as 'Alicia Anderson'. After moving back to Australia, Morrissey began her writing career and went on to write more than 20 bestsellers. Her first book, 'Heart of the Dreaming,' was published in 1991 and became an instant bestseller. Since then, she has published 17 more bestsellers, her latest being 'The Silent Country'.
Morrissey's success as an author is unparalleled, and she is considered one of the most successful and prolific authors that Australia has ever introduced to the world. Her fascination with different countries, their landscape, cultural, political, and environmental issues, forms the inspiration for her novels.
