Dianne Day, born as Ava Dianne Day, was born in the Mississippi delta on July 5, 1938. After her father's untimely death, she moved to the San Francisco Bay area. Day's intellectual prowess was evident in her academic achievements; she was elected as a member of Phi Beta Kappa after graduating from Stanford University with honors in BA in English. Soon after, she relocated to Cambridge, MA, following her marriage. Here, she expanded her knowledge by studying at the Radcliffe Institute for a year and later at Tufts University, where she focused on Psychology while working.
Day's life took a new turn when she became a mother to her sons. She moved with her family to Chapel Hill, NC, where she balanced her responsibilities in hospital administration and mental health counseling at Duke, after earning a certificate in hospital management. Despite her busy schedule, Day's passion for writing never waned, and she would eventually become a prominent figure in the world of mystery novels.
