Dori Hillestad Butler is an American author renowned for her contributions to children's and young adult literature. With a career spanning over four decades, she has written more than 40 books, including the acclaimed young adult novel "The Truth about Truman School," which addresses cyberbullying, and "My Mom's Having a Baby," a frequently challenged book for its candid portrayal of conception and childbirth. Her debut work, "The Great Tooth Fairy Rip-Off," was published in 1997, marking the beginning of her prolific career. Butler's 2010 mystery novel, "The Buddy Files: Case of the Lost Boy," earned her the prestigious Edgar Award for Best Juvenile Mystery in 2011.

Butler's writing often explores themes relevant to young readers, blending realism with engaging storytelling.
