Doug Richardson

Doug Richardson is an American author from Arcadia, California, who is best known for his work in writing blockbuster movies and a series of espionage novels. Richardson was born to a career politician and grew up primarily in the outskirts of Sacramento. His passion for cinema began at the age of twelve when he discovered James Bond paperbacks in his father’s book shelf. This discovery soon led to an obsession with Ian Fleming’s Bond protagonist and movies in general.

Richardson attended the USC School for Cinematic Arts with the goal of becoming a movie director. However, he soon realized that he had a deeper love for writing movie scripts. After graduating from USC, Richardson went on to direct several educational films. He always had his sights set on Hollywood and submitted his screenplays to various production houses. Warner Brothers was impressed with his work and offered him a two-year deal.

Doug Richardson's third-grade teacher, Mrs. Dalrymple, noted that he had difficulty with authority and following instructions. Despite this, Richardson has had a successful career as a writer in Hollywood. He has written movies such as Die Hard 2, Bad Boys, and Hostage. Richardson also has a passion for espionage novels and has written a series of books featuring protagonist Lucky Dey. These books take place in a morally suspect landscape that Richardson has named Luckyland, which is based on Los Angeles, the city of his birth.

Richardson currently lives in the San Fernando Valley with his wife, two children, and four big mutts. He has a fascination with the unknown, as evidenced by his past experiences such as tail-hooking onto the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Nimitz with a Bond Girl, diving for sunken treasure off the coast of Cuba, and talking his way into Ronald Reagan’s office to get a fistful of jellybeans at the age of ten. Richardson has a love for musical theater and is not afraid to show his emotions, often crying at the movies and embarrassing his children. He finds pleasure in scotch, whether it be blended or single malt, and enjoys it best with a cigar. Despite his success, Richardson remains grounded and true to himself.
