Douglas E. Richards is a bestselling American author, well-known for his science fiction and thriller novels written for both adults and children. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and grew up there with his parents, sister Pam, and their dog. After graduating from Finneytown High School in 1980, Richards went on to earn his B.S. in microbiology from Ohio State University. He then furthered his education by obtaining a Master’s degree in molecular biology from the University of Wisconsin, where he engineered Mutant viruses. Following this, he received his MBA from the University of Chicago.
Now residing in San Diego, California, Richards lives with his wife and two children. His scientific background greatly influences his writing, with many of his works focusing on science fiction. Richards has gained significant recognition for his work, being selected as a “special guest” at San Diego Comic-Con International alongside notable icons like Stan Lee and Ray Bradbury. His essays have also been featured in various media outlets such as National Geographic, the BBC, and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
In addition to his science fiction novels, Richards has also written kids’ science fiction thrillers, which have been enjoyed by both children and adults. These books include the Prometheus Project series, consisting of Trapped, Captured, and Stranded, as well as Out of This World and The Devil’s Sword. Many of his novels have become bestsellers, with over three million copies sold and translated into eight languages.
