Douglas Kennedy is an accomplished American author, best known for his bestselling literature and fiction novels. With around twelve novels under his belt, Kennedy has made a significant impact in the literary world. Some of his most popular works include "Leaving the World," "The Big Picture," "The Moment," and "Pursuit of Happiness." His latest novel, "The Heat of Betrayal," was published in the UK, France, and the US in 2015 and 2016.
Kennedy's writing extends beyond literary novels, as he has also authored three popular travel books. His work has been well-received globally, with over 14 million printed copies sold worldwide and translations in more than 22 languages. Many of his books have been bestsellers in France, leading to his recognition with the French decoration called Chevalier de Ordre des Lettres in 2007.
Kennedy was born in Manhattan in 1955 and pursued his education at Bowdoin College, Maine, and Trinity College, Dublin. In 1977, he returned to Dublin with just a trenchcoat, backpack, and $300, eventually co-founding a theatre company. His first play, "Shakespeare on Five Dollars a Day," was sold to Radio 4 in 1980. In 1988, Kennedy moved to London and published his first travel book, "Beyond the Pyramids." His debut novel, "The Dead Heart," was published in 1994. Today, Kennedy is a successful author with homes in London, Paris, and Maine, and is a proud father of two children.
