F.M. Busby

Francis Marion Busby was an American science fiction writer and editor active from the 1960s through the 1980s. He gained recognition for his novels "The Demu Trilogy" and "Cage a Man," as well as his editorial work on the "Arisia" anthology series. Busby's writing often explored themes of alien cultures, human adaptability, and societal structures, blending hard science fiction elements with psychological depth.

Born in 1921, Busby served in the U.S. Navy during World War II before pursuing a career in writing. His works frequently featured intricate world-building and examinations of interspecies relationships, as seen in his "Rissa Kerguelen" series. Beyond his fiction, Busby contributed significantly to the science fiction community as a founding member of the Clarion West Writers Workshop and through his editorial collaborations with other prominent authors.
