Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé is a bestselling author, originally from the UK, who has gained international acclaim for her debut novel, "Ace of Spades." She was born in the late 90s and is currently in her early twenties. Faridah was studying anthropology, Chinese, and English at a university in Aberdeen, Scotland when she began writing the manuscript for "Ace of Spades." The novel is a thrilling story about two black students at an elite school who discover that someone has been spreading damaging rumors about them.
While Faridah was in her first year of college, she didn't have many friends and spent a lot of her free time in her room, watching TV shows and binge-watching series such as "Gossip Girl" and "Pretty Little Liars." As a Muslim, she found that there were few people at her school who looked like her, which inspired her to create characters and stories that reflected her own experiences. She wanted to see more diversity in the media she consumed, and this desire led her to write "Ace of Spades."
Faridah is an avid tea drinker and a collector of strange mugs. She recently graduated from a university in the Scottish Highlands with a degree in English Literature and is currently pursuing an MA in Shakespeare Studies at Kings College London. In her free time, she enjoys analyzing the deeper meanings in Disney channel original movies. Faridah is represented by Zoë Plant at The Bent Agency.
