Frank M. Young is an Eisner Award-winning writer, colorist, and historian specializing in comic arts. Born in Tallahassee, Florida in 1963, he began his professional writing career at age 17, initially working in journalism before transitioning to editing and later returning to writing in the late 1990s. His notable works include the graphic novels "The Carter Family: Don't Forget This Song," which earned him the Eisner Award in 2014, and "Oregon Trail: The Road to Destiny," both created in collaboration with artist David Lasky. The duo is currently developing their third graphic novel project.
Young's career spans multiple creative disciplines, including non-fiction children's books, music writing, and comic scholarship. Recognized as a leading expert on the works of artist John Stanley, particularly the "Little Lulu" series, Young has contributed significantly to the preservation and analysis of comic history. His diverse talents extend to design, cartooning, music, and improv comedy, reflecting a multifaceted artistic career. Young's writing on popular music was featured in Ace Records' 2010 CD release "You Baby: Words and Music by P. F. Sloan and Steve Barri." He resides and works in Portland, Oregon.
