Frank Roderus was born on September 21, 1942, and had a passion for writing from a very young age. His first story, a western, was written when he was just five years old. Although the story was far from perfect, his mother recognized the potential in his writing and kept it until her death. Roderus' early attempt at storytelling sparked a lifelong pursuit of writing that he would eventually excel at.
After working as a newspaper reporter, Roderus realized that he wanted to become an author. However, he felt that he was not yet ready to write books, so he continued to practice and learn. Eventually, he developed his writing skills to the point where he was able to sell his first book, a young adult novel published by Independence Press. This marked the beginning of a long and successful career in writing, with more than thirty years and numerous books to his name.
Roderus' talent as a writer was recognized by prestigious organizations, including the Colorado Press Association and the Western Writers of America. The Colorado Press Association awarded him their highest honor, the Sweepstakes Award, for the best news story of 1980. Additionally, the Western Writers of America named Roderus a two-time recipient of their prestigious Spur Award.
Frank Roderus passed away in December 2015 at the age of 73, leaving behind a legacy of exceptional writing. His work continues to inspire and entertain readers, and his contributions to the world of literature will not be forgotten.
