Gianaclis Caldwell

Gianaclis is an award-winning nonfiction and speculative fiction author whose debut novel, "The Binding," earned a Kirkus Reviews "Our Verdict: Get it" accolade. She writes upmarket speculative fiction, often exploring themes of family, friendship, and self-discovery. After working with a literary agency for a year, she transitioned to independent publishing, prioritizing creative control and transparency in her career.

Raised in rural Oregon, Gianaclis developed a deep connection with nature, a theme that subtly influences her work. Her eclectic background includes careers as a nurse, farrier, printmaker, architect, cheesemaker, and goat farmer, alongside her roles as a foster, adoptive, and birth mother. A former military spouse and cheese instructor, she now resides on land historically stewarded by the Takelma (Dagelma) people, where she continues to draw inspiration from her surroundings.

In her spare time, Gianaclis teaches ballet and fitness to older women and enjoys savoring fine bourbon. Her restless curiosity and diverse life experiences enrich her storytelling, blending realism with imaginative depth. She remains an active voice in both nonfiction and speculative fiction, engaging readers with her distinctive narrative style.
