Glen Cook

Glen Cook is a renowned American novelist, born in New York City on July 9, 1944. He is widely recognized for his exceptional work in the genres of science fiction and fantasy. Cook's interest in writing began in his grade school years and was further nurtured during his high school days when he contributed occasional articles to the school newspaper.

After high school, Cook enlisted in the US Navy and later pursued his education in college. His writing journey truly took off while he was working for General Motors, a period during which he wrote as many as three novels a year. It was during this productive phase that he conceived the idea for his groundbreaking series, The Black Company. The series has been translated into more than 20 languages, showcasing its global appeal and recognition.

In addition to The Black Company, Cook has authored several other significant series. These include Dread Empire and the Garrett, P.I. series. His latest work, Working God’s Mischief, is the fourth installment in the Instrumentalities of the Night series. Cook's writing career spans over five decades, during which he has produced 51 books and numerous short fiction pieces. He is married and has three sons and several grandchildren. He currently resides with his wife.
