Glenda Larke was born in Western Australia and grew up as the daughter of a farmer. She was educated at government state schools and the University of Western Australia, where she earned a degree in history and a diploma in education. Larke is an environmentalist and a writer, with a deep love for odd things and wild places. She is married to a Malaysian scientist and has grown-up children. Currently, she resides in Malaysia, where she actively participates in rainforest conservation.
As a writer, Larke has made a significant contribution to the fantasy genre, with her works including The Isles of Glory trilogy (The Aware, Gilfeather, The Tainted); The Mirage Makers trilogy (Heart of the Mirage, The Shadow of Tyr, Song of the Shiver Barrens); and a stand-alone book written under the name Glenda Noramly, Havenstar. Larke's writing is influenced by her life experiences, and her world-building skills are exceptional. Her novels are known for their magic, adventure, and unique characters. Larke's books have been shortlisted for numerous awards, and she has won several, including the inaugural Sara Douglass Series Award, won by the Stormlord Trilogy. Her most recent book, THE TANGLED LANDS, was released in January 2023, and it is a standalone novel with new characters. Larke is active on social media, with a presence on Twitter and Facebook, and she maintains a blog and website where fans can learn more about her and her work.
