Graham Joyce

Graham Joyce was an acclaimed English author, known for his work in the realm of speculative fiction. Born on October 22, 1954, Joyce spent his early years in England, eventually pursuing higher education and earning a B.Ed. from Bishop Lonsdale College in 1977 and a M.A. from the University of Leicester in 1980. His professional journey took a different turn when he began working as a youth officer for the National Association of Youth Clubs until 1988.

This career shift, however, did not deter Joyce from his passion for writing. In 1988, he made the decision to move to the Greek islands of Lesbos and Crete to focus on his craft and write his first novel, Dreamside. Upon selling Dreamside to Pan Books in 1991, Joyce returned to England to establish himself as a full-time writer. His personal life was equally significant, as he shared his life with his wife, Suzanne Johnsen, and their two children, Joseph and Ella. The family resided in Leicester, where Joyce also pursued his love for teaching as a Creative Writing instructor at Nottingham Trent University from 1996 until his death.

Throughout his career, Joyce garnered numerous accolades for both his novels and short stories. His work was highly regarded, earning him a Reader in Creative Writing title at Nottingham Trent University. Tragically, Joyce passed away on September 9, 2014, after being diagnosed with lymphoma in 2013. His contributions to the literary world, however, continue to live on and inspire new generations of writers and readers alike.
