Greg Grandin

Greg Grandin is a historian and acclaimed author whose works have earned prestigious accolades, including the Pulitzer Prize for Nonfiction for "The End of the Myth: From the Frontier to the Border Wall in the Mind of America." His book "Fordlandia: The Rise and Fall of Henry Ford’s Forgotten Jungle City" was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Award, and the National Book Critics Circle Award. Other notable works include "The Empire of Necessity: Slavery, Freedom, and Deception in the New World," which won the Bancroft Prize and was praised by Toni Morrison as "compelling, brilliant and necessary," and "Empire’s Workshop: Latin America, the United States, and the Making of an Imperial Republic," a critical examination of U.S. foreign policy.

Grandin’s scholarship explores themes of imperialism, slavery, and American identity, often blending rigorous historical research with narrative depth. His book "The Empire of Necessity" reconstructs a slave-ship revolt that inspired Herman Melville’s "Benito Cereno," while "Kissinger’s Shadow: The Long Reach of America’s Most Controversial Statesman" scrutinizes the legacy of Henry Kissinger. A professor at Yale University, Grandin has contributed to publications such as The New York Times, The Nation, and the London Review of Books. His expertise has also led to advisory roles, including serving on the United Nations Truth Commission investigating the Guatemalan Civil War. His most recent work, "America, América: A New History of the New World," became a New York Times bestseller, further cementing his reputation as a leading voice in historical scholarship.
