Greg Iles is a successful American author, best known for his New York Times Bestsellers. Iles was born in Germany in 1960, where his father was stationed as he was in charge of the US Embassy Clinic. After his birth, the family moved back to Mississippi, where Iles was raised and went on to attend the University of Mississippi, graduating in 1980.
Iles has spent the majority of his life in Natchez, Mississippi, and it is here that he has set many of his novels. His first novel, Spandau Phoenix, was published in 1993 and was the first of seventeen New York Times bestsellers. Iles' novels often feature standalone stories, rather than being part of a series. However, he has written a trilogy featuring the character Penn Cage, which includes The Quiet Game, Turning Angel, and The Devil's Punchbowl.
In addition to his successful writing career, Iles is also a member of the lit-rock group The Rock Bottom Remainders. He lives in Natchez with his wife and is a father of three children. In 2011, Iles was involved in a car accident that resulted in the amputation of part of his leg. Despite this setback, Iles has continued to write and publish novels, with his work being translated into over thirty-five languages and made into films.
