Griff Hosker is an English author, born in Lancashire in 1950, who is well-known for his epic historical fiction novels. After a thirty-five year career as an English and Drama teacher in the North East of England, Hosker founded his own consultancy firm and worked as an advisor in schools and colleges in the same region. However, when the new Conservative Government ended that avenue of work in 2010, Hosker found himself with too much spare time on his hands. He decided to use this time to research the Roman conquest of Britain and begin creating a novel, which resulted in the birth of "The Sword of Cartimandua."
Hosker is meticulous in his research of the historical times of his novels, ensuring that even the smallest details, such as the way his characters would act during those times, are accurately portrayed. His writing is heavily influenced by authors like C.S Forester, Simon Scarrow, Ben Kane, Alexander Kent, and Bernard Cornwell. Since publishing "The Sword of Cartimandua," Hosker has expanded his catalogue to include historical fiction novels that cover a wide range of periods, from the building of Hadrian's Wall to the Korean War. Some of his most popular series include the "Dragonheart" series (set in the Viking period), "The Anarchy Seors," "The Lord Edward's Archer Series" (set during King Edward 1st's reign), and the "Sir John Hawkwood" series (set in Italy during the fourteenth century).
Hosker is a prolific writer, producing at least 5000 words each day. He has published over 180 books as of October 2023, with his most popular series being the "Dragonheart" series, "The Anarchy Seors," "The Lord Edward's Archer Series," and the "Sir John Hawkwood" series. His books are now owned and published by Sword Books Ltd, and he can be reached via Twitter and Facebook. Hosker takes pride in his active engagement with his readers, trying to respond to every reader and incorporating their feedback into his writing.
