Heather Demetrios is a highly acclaimed American author, well-known for her work in young adult contemporary and fantasy novels. She has received numerous honors for her writing, including having her books named as Bank Street Best Children's Books, YALSA Best Fiction For Young Adults selections, a Goodreads Choice Nominee, a Kirkus Best Book, and a Barnes and Noble Best Book. Demetrios has an MFA in Writing from the prestigious Vermont College of Fine Arts.
Demetrios is the author of several popular series and standalone novels, including the Caravan Cycle and the Something Real series. Her novels, such as Little Universes, I’ll Meet You There, Bad Romance, Exquisite Captive, Blood Passage, and Freedom’s Slave, have captivated audiences with their compelling storylines and complex characters. In addition to her fiction work, Demetrios has also written non-fiction, including the Junior Library Guild Gold Standard Selection Code Name Badass: The True Story of Virginia Hall, and edited the anthology Dear Heartbreak: YA Authors and Teens on the Dark Side of Love.
Demetrios is not only a writer but also a writing coach and certified meditation teacher. She is a recipient of the PEN America Susan P. Bloom Discovery Award for her debut novel, Something Real. Her writing has been featured in various publications, including LA Review of Books, Bustle, School Library Journal, and other fine outlets. Demetrios is passionate about using her writing and mindfulness skills to help women in the refugee community. She works in communications and mindfulness outreach for Becky’s Bathhouse, a wellness center and safe space serving refugee women in Lesvos, Greece.
Demetrios was born and raised in Los Angeles but currently resides on the East Coast with her husband, who is also a writer. When she is not writing or working, Demetrios enjoys traveling the world and spending time in imaginary places. Her creativity, exceptional writing skills, and dedication to helping others have earned her a well-deserved reputation as a talented and compassionate author.
