Heidi Hostetter is an American author who has a deep love for books and storytelling. She grew up in New Jersey and spent many summer days at her grandparents' house on the shore, an experience that has influenced much of her writing. Hostetter's love for books began at a young age when she would ride her bike to the public library and fill her basket with any book that caught her eye. From fairy tales and detective stories to mysteries, Hostetter was always eager to dive into a new story.
Hostetter's books are known for their immersive descriptions, relatable characters, and heartwarming themes. Her novels often explore the complexities of family dynamics and the power of second chances. "The Girl I Used to Be" is the newest addition to her New Jersey Shore collection, which asks thought-provoking questions about the sacrifices we are willing to make for comfort and the strength it takes to find our way back. "The Shore House" is the first book in the Dewberry Beach collection, a heartfelt summer read that explores themes of misunderstanding, forgiveness, and second chances. Hostetter's Lowcountry collection, set in Charleston, South Carolina, includes "Things We Surrender" and "Things We Keep," which follow three generations of strong Southern women and their journey to forgiveness and becoming a family.
In addition to her New Jersey Shore, Dewberry Beach, and Lowcountry collections, Hostetter has also written the Inlet Beach series, set in a small beach town on the coast of Oregon. The series begins with "The Inheritance," which follows three estranged sisters as they stake a claim to a dilapidated beach house. "A Light in the Window" revisits Inlet Beach for Christmas and tells the story of a runaway teen in need of help.
Hostetter has been inspired by various places she has lived, including South Carolina, the Pacific Northwest, and the DC-area, where she currently resides with her family in a one-hundred-year-old haunted house. When she's not writing, Hostetter can be found digging in her garden, ripping back a knitting project, or burning dinner. She loves to hear from readers and answers all her own mail. Hostetter is currently at work on the second book in the New Jersey Shore series and is always up for a trip to a bookstore, no matter how far away.
