Heidi Perks is a Bournemouth-based author, well-known for her mystery and contemporary books. Born in 1973, Perks graduated from Bournemouth University in 1997 with a BA (Hons) in Retail Management. Before fully dedicating herself to writing, she had a successful career in marketing. However, in 2012, she decided to leave her marketing career to focus on raising her family and writing. Perks is particularly interested in exploring family relationships, especially those involving slightly dysfunctional characters, in her work. She is currently writing her second novel.
Perks' debut novel, "Beneath The Surface," was published by Century in July 2018 and quickly became a Sunday Times Bestseller, as well as a Richard and Judy book club pick. The novel's success led to Perks receiving a silver Nielsen bestseller award in 2021 for selling over 250,000 copies. Perks has since published three more novels, including "Come Back For Me," "Three Perfect Liars," and "The Whispers," which was released in paperback in April 2022. Her book, "The Other Guest," was released in hardback and e-book in June 2022.
In "Her One Mistake," one of Perks' notable works, the story follows Charlotte, a mother whose life changes dramatically when her best friend's child goes missing. The novel explores the aftermath of the disappearance and its impact on the relationships between the two women. Perks has a unique ability to delve into the complexities of relationships, especially in the midst of tragedy, which is evident in her writing. She currently lives in Bournemouth with her husband and two children, and enjoys spending time on the coast and in her beach hut, where she finds much of her inspiration for her crime thrillers.
