Helaine Mario is a bestselling author, known for her romantic suspense novels. She was born and raised in New York City and is a graduate of Boston University. After getting married in 1969, she moved to Connecticut where she raised her two children, volunteered at Save the Children, and wrote for the local paper.
Mario's life took an unpredictable turn in 1985 when her husband's career brought her family to Potomac, Maryland. For all eight years of the Clinton Presidency, she was a White House volunteer for Tipper and Al Gore, and continues to be a passionate advocate for public service and women & children’s issues. Mario is also the founder of The SunDial Foundation, Inc., which benefits the most vulnerable women, children and families. She also created Project PJs, offering new books, bears and pajamas to under-served children in the community. Mario and her husband, Ron Mario, now spend their time in Arlington, Virginia and Cape May, New Jersey. She is a two time cancer survivor and is most proud of her two children and five beautiful grandchildren.
Mario has written four novels of suspense, including the Classical Music Suspense Series: The Lost Concerto, Dark Rhapsody and Shadow Music, all published by Oceanview Publishing. The series features Boston Classical Pianist Maggie O’Shea and is inspired by classical piano music and several visits to France, Austria and Cornwall. The stand-alone espionage novel, Firebird, was inspired by a Russian firebird brooch discovered in New York’s theater district. Music and Art are at the heart of Mario's stories. She believes strongly in "giving back" to her community, and for the eight years of the Clinton Presidency, she was a White House volunteer for Tipper and Al Gore in the Office of the Vice President and continues to be a passionate advocate for women & children’s issues. Royalties from all book sales go directly to children’s reading, nutrition and health programs.
