Helen Simonson is a highly successful international bestselling author, born in England and currently living in America. She is known for her two critically acclaimed novels, both of which have been New York Times bestsellers. Simonson's writing career began in earnest when she turned 45, and she has since used her success to inspire others to pursue their passions at any age.
Raised in England, Simonson spent her teenage years in a small village in East Sussex. She has fond memories of the medieval towns, sleepy villages, and pebble bank shores of Sussex, which fulfilled her vision of a dream home. After completing her higher education in London, Simonson moved to America, where she has lived for almost three decades. Although she has been away from her birth country for a long time, she still carries the love for England in her heart.
Simonson is a graduate of the London School of Economics and holds an MFA from Stony Brook Southampton. Before becoming an author, she worked as a travel advertising executive and is now a dual US/UK citizen and a proud New Yorker. She has been a longtime resident of Brooklyn and is married with two sons.
Simonson's debut novel, Major Pettigrew's Last Stand, was a NY Times bestseller and was published in twenty-one countries. Her second novel, The Summer before The War, is also a NY Times and international bestseller and is now available in paperback. Her newest novel, The Hazelbourne Ladies Motorcycle and Flying Club, will be published in May 2024. Simonson's writing is known for its warmth, wit, and keen observations of human nature, and her novels continue to captivate readers around the world.
