Hernan Diaz is a highly acclaimed fiction author, renowned for his exceptional storytelling and unique perspective. With two novels under his belt, Diaz has established himself as a formidable talent in the literary world, with his works translated into over twenty languages. His writing has captivated readers and critics alike, earning him a finalist spot for the Pulitzer Prize for fiction. Diaz's essays and stories have also been featured in various prestigious publications, including The Kenyon Review, The Paris Review, and The New York Times.

Diaz's first novel, In the Distance, was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize and the PEN/Faulkner Award. It was also the winner of the Saroyan International Prize, the Cabell Award, the Prix Page America, and the New American Voices Award, among other distinctions. The novel was a Publishers Weekly Top 10 Book of the Year and one of Lit Hub’s 20 Best Novels of the Decade. His second novel, Trust, received the Pulitzer Prize for fiction and was a New York Times Bestseller, the winner of the Kirkus Prize, and longlisted for the Booker Prize. In addition to his literary achievements, Diaz has also received numerous awards and fellowships for his work. He is the recipient of the John Updike award from the American Academy of Arts & Letters, given to “a writer whose contributions to American literature have demonstrated consistent excellence.” Diaz has also been awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Whiting Award, and fellowships from the New York Public Library’s Cullman Center, and The Rockefeller Foundation. He holds a PhD from NYU and edits an academic journal at Columbia University. Diaz is also the author of Borges, between History and Eternity. His stories and essays have appeared in various prestigious publications, including The Paris Review, Harper’s, The Atlantic, Granta, The Yale Review, Playboy, and McSweeney’s.
