Holly Ringland is a bestselling author, storyteller, and television presenter, who was born and raised on the East Coast of Australia. At a young age, Ringland's love for cultures, landscapes, and stories deepened thanks to a two-year journey in North America with her family. They lived in a camper van and moved from one national park to the next, which allowed her to experience various landscapes and cultures. After this journey, Ringland went on to work for four years in a remote Indigenous community in Australia’s western desert. This experience further deepened her appreciation for stories and cultures other than her own.
Ringland's love for writing started at a young age, and she always knew she wanted to be a writer. She obtained her MA in Creative Writing from the University of Manchester in 2011. Her debut novel, The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, was published in 2018 and has since become an international bestseller. The book has won several awards, including The Australian Book Industry Award in May of 2019. In 2020, Ringland toured across Australia to film an 8-episode lifestyle series titled Back to Nature. She also co-hosts the series with Aaron Pedersen.
In addition to writing and presenting, Ringland is also a passionate advocate for Indigenous Australian communities. She has worked with these communities for four years, and her writing reflects her appreciation for their stories and cultures. In 2020, Amazon Prime Video announced the adaptation of The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart into a seven-part TV series. The series is currently in production, with filming taking place in Australia. Ringland's second novel, The Seven Skins of Esther Wilding, was published in October 2022 and is forthcoming in the UK and North America. She currently spends most of her days writing Esther Wilding’s story in her 1968 Olympic Riviera caravan, named ‘Frenchie’, her Plan B writing office based on Yugambeh land, southeast Queensland.
