Honor Raconteur is an American fantasy writer, who has been creating stories since she was a toddler. Born to a fantasy-loving mother and a book-warm father, Raconteur grew up with a love for reading and storytelling. She spent her childhood moving around the United States, which has provided her with a diverse range of experiences and perspectives. Raconteur's interests are varied, and she enjoys training service dogs, studying languages, and engaging in debates with her characters.
Raconteur's writing journey began when she was thirteen years old, and she wrote her first book at the age of twenty-three. She spent three years trying to publish her book, "Jaunten," traditionally, but faced rejection from literary agents who found her story too unconventional. The book did not fit the "fantasy formula" that was popular at the time, as it did not have vampires, the supernatural, or a dark overlord to defeat. However, Raconteur did not give up on her dream of becoming a published author.
After taking a break from pursuing publication to complete her Bachelor's degree in English at Middle Tennessee State University, Raconteur returned to her dream of becoming a published author. This time, she had a better understanding of the legal aspects of self-publishing and spent six months researching how to publish her book debt-free. Her efforts paid off, and within three months of publishing "Jaunten" as an ebook, she was selling internationally. Within six months, she was making enough money from her book sales to quit her day job and focus on writing full-time.
Raconteur's success with self-publishing led her to establish her own publishing house, Raconteur House, in February 2012. She has since signed on four additional authors and has attracted a steady stream of new talent. Raconteur continues to write and publish her own books, and when she's not writing or editing, she enjoys giving presentations in the community about how to become an author.
Raconteur's website can be found at honorraconteur.com. She holds three college degrees, has lived in various parts of the United States, and practices two different martial arts. These experiences have given her a wealth of knowledge and insights that she incorporates into her books, making her worlds and characters more realistic and engaging. Despite the challenges she faced in her journey to becoming a published author, Raconteur has never given up on her dream, and she continues to write and publish her books, one story at a time.
