Howard Gardner

Howard Gardner is the John H. and Elisabeth A. Hobbs Professor of Cognition and Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and Adjunct Professor of Psychology at Harvard University. A renowned scholar, he is best known for his theory of multiple intelligences, which challenges the traditional notion of intelligence as a singular, measurable trait. Gardner has authored 25 books, translated into 28 languages, including influential works such as "Frames of Mind: The Theory of Multiple Intelligences" and "The Disciplined Mind: Beyond Facts and Standardized Tests, the K-12 Education That Every Child Deserves." His contributions to education and psychology have earned him widespread recognition, including a MacArthur Prize Fellowship in 1981 and inclusion in Foreign Policy and Prospect magazines' lists of the world's most influential public intellectuals in 2005 and 2008.

Gardner's career extends beyond academia into practical applications of his theories. As Senior Director of Harvard Project Zero, he has collaborated on designing performance-based assessments and interdisciplinary educational approaches. His long-term GoodWork Project, conducted with Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi and William Damon, examines the intersection of excellence, engagement, and ethics in professional domains. More recently, Gardner has explored the ethical implications of digital media and the nature of trust in modern society. His 2008 lecture series at New York's Museum of Modern Art, titled "The True, The Beautiful, and The Good: Reconsiderations in a Post-Modern, Digital Era," reflects his enduring interest in fundamental human values amid societal change.
