I.W. Gregorio

I.W. Gregorio is a writer who has made a name for herself in the contemporary and young adult genres. During the day, she works as a surgeon, but at night, she transforms into a dedicated YA writer. After completing her education at the Yale School of Medicine, she went on to study creative writing at the University of Pennsylvania and Johns Hopkins University. While still a surgical resident, she contributed to several publications, including the San Francisco Chronicle, San Jose Mercury News, and Washington Post.

Gregorio's debut novel, "None of the Above," was inspired by her experiences at Stanford, where she met an intersex patient who shared her struggles. This groundbreaking novel, published in 2015 by Balzer & Bray / HarperCollins, was a Top Ten Sports Book for Youth by the ALA Booklist, a finalist for the Lambda Literary Award, and made the Flying Start list by Publishers Weekly. It also appeared on the Rainbow List by the American Library Association in 2016.

In addition to her writing, Gregorio is a board member at interACT, an organization advocating for better outcomes for Intersex Youth. She is also a co-founder and former vice president in charge of development at We Need Diverse Books. Her work has been featured in the Journal of General Internal Medicine, The Washington Post, Scientific American, Newsweek, New York Daily News, San Francisco Chronicle, and San Jose Mercury News. Gregorio currently resides in Pennsylvania with her husband and two children. Her second novel, "This is My Brain in Love," was published in 2020.
