Ibi Zoboi is a celebrated author, born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and raised in New York City. She is known for her works in children's and young adult literature, with her stories reflecting her cultural roots and experiences as an immigrant. Zoboi's writing has been featured in various publications such as The New York Times Book Review, The Horn Book Magazine, and the Caribbean Writer.
Zoboi's debut novel, American Street, was a finalist in the National Book Award and a New York Times Notable Book of 2017. This book tells the story of a young Haitian immigrant's experiences as she navigates her new life in America. Zoboi's other notable works include Pride, a contemporary retelling of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, and My Life as an Ice Cream Sandwich, a middle-grade novel. She is also the editor of the anthology Black Enough: Stories of Being Young & Black in America.
In addition to her solo projects, Zoboi has collaborated with Exonerated Five member, Yusef Salaam, on the Walter Award and L.A. Times Book Prize-winning novel-in-verse, Punching the Air. She has also authored a picture book, The People Remember, which received a Coretta Scott King Honor Award. Zoboi's most recent works include Star Child: A Biographical Constellation of Octavia Estelle Butler and Okoye to the People: A Black Panther Novel for Marvel.
Zoboi currently resides in New Jersey with her husband, a high school art teacher, and their three teenage children. She continues to create stories that resonate with readers and reflect the diversity of the human experience.
