Shapiro was born in Moscow and spent much of her childhood there before moving to the United States at the age of eleven. She quickly picked up English and excelled in school, eventually graduating from Bernard M. Baruch College with a degree in International Business. After working in advertising and then export and import for several years, Shapiro left the workforce to take care of her autistic son. It was during this time that she discovered her passion for writing. With characters that seemed to take on a life of their own, Shapiro began writing down the conversations she heard in her head, combining her love for travel and history to create vivid and engaging stories.
In addition to her love of writing, Shapiro is also an avid reader and has a particular fascination with the paranormal. She believes that nothing is truly impossible and enjoys exploring themes of love and transcendence in her work.
