J. Gabriel Gates

J. Gabriel Gates is a Michigan-born author known for his works across multiple genres, including horror, dystopian science fiction, and young adult fantasy. His published novels include the horror title "The Sleepwalkers," the dystopian sci-fi epic "Blood Zero Sky," and the YA fantasy series "The Tracks," which comprises "Dark Territory," "Ghost Crown," and "Shadow Train." His upcoming urban fantasy novel, "Girl of Hearts," was slated for release in June 2022.

A graduate of Florida State University with a degree in theater, Gates initially pursued acting, appearing in national television commercials before transitioning to writing. He later earned an MFA in writing from Spalding University. His diverse background informs his storytelling, which often blends cinematic pacing with literary depth. Beyond writing, Gates serves on his local city council and leads a prominent arts organization in Michigan.

Gates' career reflects his multifaceted interests, from performing to public service. His works demonstrate a versatility that spans dark speculative fiction and adventurous YA narratives. Outside of writing, he enjoys running, attending concerts, and, as he humorously notes, keeping up with his children's endless snack demands.
