J.L. Brown

Julie L. Brown is an accomplished author known for her historical fiction and political thrillers. Her novel "Bend, Don't Break" was a finalist for the Wishing Shelf Independent Book Award, while her alternative-history work "No One Will Save Us" earned multiple accolades, including the Independent Press Award for African American Fiction and the Reader Views Literary Award for Global-Africa fiction. Writing under the pen name J. L. Brown, she created the Jade Harrington series, which includes the political thrillers "Don’t Speak," "Rule of Law," and "The Divide," as well as the short story "Few Are Chosen." Her works have received praise from Kirkus Reviews, the Midwest Book Review, and the Seattle Book Review.

Brown holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Southern Maine's Stonecoast program. Her writing spans genres, blending historical depth with contemporary tension, and she is an active member of professional organizations such as Black Women Write Seattle, Mystery Writers of America, and Crime Writers of Color. Residing in the Pacific Northwest with her family, she continues to work on new projects, further establishing her reputation as a versatile and award-winning author.
