Jim is a science fiction and fantasy writer with a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, specializing in laser physics. With over 30 years of writing experience and 19 published books, he initially gained recognition through self-publishing before securing contracts with traditional publishers such as Open Road Media and Harper Collins. His works span multiple series, including the hard science fiction series "The Blacksword Regiment" and the upcoming coming-of-age epic fantasy series "The Dreadmark Covenants," slated for release in 2024.

Blending scientific expertise with imaginative storytelling, Jim crafts intricate worlds grounded in both speculative technology and fantastical elements. His career transitioned from academia and industry to full-time writing after his self-published works gained viral success. He is currently developing new installments in existing series like "The Dead Among Us" and "The Treasons Cycle," as well as a fresh fantasy series titled "The Deck of Chaos."

Born in Seattle, Jim has lived across the United States and Europe before settling in Arizona with his wife and their feline companions - whom he humorously suspects of extraterrestrial origins. His diverse background and technical acumen continue to shape his unique contributions to the SF&F genre.
