Jabari Asim

Jabari Asim is a highly acclaimed author, professor, and playwright. He has written several works of fiction, including "A Taste of Honey" and "Only the Strong," as well as nonfiction works such as "The N Word: Who Can Say It, Who Shouldn't, And Why" and "We Can't Breathe: On Black Lives, White Lies, and the Art of Survival." Asim is also the author of several children's books, including "Whose Toes Are Those," "Whose Knees Are These," "Preaching To The Chickens," and "A Child's Introduction to African-American History."

"A Taste of Honey" and "Only the Strong" have both received high praise from critics and readers alike. "A Taste of Honey" is a collection of interconnected short stories set in a Midwestern African-American community in the wake of the civil rights movement. It has been described as a "brilliant coming-of-age tale" and a "multilayered dish" that brings to life a world that is still too seldom seen in American fiction. "Only the Strong" is a novel set in 1970s St. Louis, and it has been compared to the work of Chester Himes and praised for its "deceptively light handling of desperately serious subject matter."

In addition to his work as an author, Asim is also a professor of creative writing at Emerson College. He has been praised for his elegant writing style and his compassionate and humorous voice. His work often explores themes of race, politics, and identity, and he is known for his ability to handle serious subject matter with sensitivity and grace. Asim's work has been widely praised for its ability to transport readers to different times and places, and for its vivid and engaging characters.
