Jack Weyland

Jack Weyland is a bestselling author renowned for his contributions to young-adult fiction within the Latter-day Saint market. He pioneered the modern genre of Latter-day Saint-themed popular fiction with his widely acclaimed novel "Charly," which became a cultural touchstone for readers. Over his career, he has published more than two dozen books, alongside over fifty short stories featured in "The New Era", the official magazine of the LDS Church. His works have resonated deeply with audiences, establishing him as a foundational figure in faith-based literature.

Weyland's academic background in physics has informed his disciplined approach to writing. He holds a B.S. from Montana State University and a Ph.D. from Brigham Young University, where he later taught physics before joining the faculty at BYU-Idaho. Despite his scientific career, his passion for storytelling emerged through a creative writing correspondence course during a summer research stint at BYU. His narratives often blend relatable characters with moral themes, reflecting his commitment to uplifting and engaging young readers.

Beyond writing, Weyland enjoys racquetball and singing. He and his wife, Sheryl, have raised five children and welcomed four grandchildren. While balancing his academic career and family life, he continues to inspire through his fiction, leaving a lasting legacy in Latter-day Saint literature.
