Jacqueline Carey

Jacqueline Carey is a highly accomplished American author, best known for her fantasy novels. She was born in Highland Park, Illinois, in 1964 and went on to attend Lake Forest College. In 1986, she received her Bachelor of Arts degrees in psychology and English literature. Carey's interest in writing as a career was sparked during her college years when she spent six months working in a small bookstore in London as part of a work exchange program. This experience led her to make the decision to become a professional author and novelist.

Upon returning to the United States, Carey started her writing career while working at the art center of a local college. She spent the next ten years honing her craft and building her career before achieving significant success with the publication of her first book in 2001. Carey's writing is primarily focused on fantasy fiction, and she has authored several popular series, including the New York Times bestselling Kushiel's Legacy series of historical fantasy novels, The Sundering epic fantasy duology, postmodern fables "Santa Olivia" and "Saints Astray," and the Agent of Hel contemporary fantasy series. Carey currently resides in western Michigan and is a member of the oldest Mardi Gras krewe in the state. Contrary to popular belief, she does not have any tattoos.
